Application for drainageDUCT™

Slotted piping represents the most effective and economical solution to the increasing challenges of:

Hydro-geological instability.
Waterlogging of farmland and sports grounds.
Foundation drainage on construction sites.
Fluid capture (i.e. in landfills).
Water dispersion.
Slotted piping eliminates the need to construct and maintain large drainage basins.
Its light weight and versatility make it ideal for use in emergency and safety work.

Advantages of drainageDUCT™

Lightweight and easy to handle.
Easy to install.
Durable, versatile, and safe.
Low cost.
Ideal for use in areas of serious hydro-geological instability.

Dispersion piping for flow control:

Existing sewer and drainage systems are encountering growing difficulties in coping with the collection and dispersion of rainwater run-off.

This problem is particularly serious in towns and cities. The rapid of built-up areas has dramatically altered the ratio between rainfall volume and drain capacity, partly as a result of higher flow rates entering the drains, but often as a result of the inadequacy of drainage systems originally designed and built to cater for urban expansion on a far smaller scale.

drainageDUCT™ slotted dispersion pipes

Reduce the flow of run-off into existing sewers and drains, when over-saturation is a problem.
Ensures gradual and uniform dispersion of rainwater into the soil and discharges into existing sewers and drains, only the water that the soil cannot absorb.
Avoids the need to lay larger drainage systems (with higher laying and maintenance costs) while also preventing the build-up of large volumes of water that could exceed the capacity of the main urban drainage network.

drainageDUCT™ for soil drainage

In high rainfall areas, degradation (i.e. loss of the soil’s natural physical, mechanical, chemical and biological properties) can lead to soil becoming unable to absorb rainwater, with the risk of hydro-geological instability. One of the ways to prevent the phenomena that eventually leads to subsidence and landslides, is to limit the amount of excess water in the soil.

drainageDUCT™ with water capture slots

Absorbs the water that the surrounding soil is no longer able to hold and carries it away to designated receiver points.
Drainage is facilitated by the water-proof nature of HDPE and by the low coefficient of friction of the internal surface.
The smooth bottom of the piping (if not slotted) prevents the formation of deposits and speeds up the flow of water.

Installation in different applications.

Agriculture: In agricultural applications it is common practice to use drainage pipes with a single filter consisting of sand or stone. Fines will migrate through the filter into the pipe. These fines are deposited and build up over time in pipes with rough or corrugated inner bores. This necessitates periodic flushing to remove the deposits and maintain the integrity of the drainage system. However, if drainageDUCT™, with its smooth bore, is installed at the correct gradient, the system will be self-cleansing.

Structural: In structural applications, such as underfloor drainage of reservoirs, drainageDUCT™ is used with a filter of no fines concrete. The strength of drainageDUCT™ has a distinct advantage as it is not easily damaged during concrete pouring operations.

Civil Engineering: A double filter consisting of stone and geotextile is most used in civil engineering applications. For a well-designed filter to function a reverse filter must form between the soil and the geotextile, allowing fines to pass into the drainage system. The use of properly installed smooth bore drainageDUCT™ will ensure the efficient removal of these fines. Stability of the filter will occur when the movement of fines has ceased.
